How to Make a Mellow Americano
What is an Americano?
If you're looking for coffee with a unique flavor, look no further! An Americano is perfect for a relaxing evening drink that you can share with your guests after dinner.
How to make an Americano
An Americano is basically an espresso (usually double) with hot water. Adding water dilutes the flavor of the coffee, but it also gives you a full cup of coffee - that's why it's sometimes called long black coffee.
However, with this coffee maker from us and a handy guide on how to make an Americano, you can quickly make the Americano you want!
1.Selection of coffee beans
Choose coffee beans suitable for espresso making, which usually have a rich flavor and a high oil content in order to extract the rich coffee oils under high pressure.
2.Grinding the coffee beans
Place the selected coffee beans in the grinder and choose the fineness of grind suitable for espresso. Espresso usually requires a finer grind to ensure that the coffee grounds are tightly packed under high pressure for easy extraction.
3.Pre-heating the coffee machine
Before the coffee is officially made, start the coffee machine to pre-heat it and ensure that it reaches the proper operating temperature. The preheating process also helps to remove residual moisture and odors from the machine.
4.Loading Powder
Pour the ground coffee powder into the powder bowl of the coffee maker and control the weight of the powder according to the needs of the coffee maker and personal taste. Usually, the amount of powder for a double portion is between 14g-22g.
5.Pressing
Use a powder press to compact the coffee powder into a powder cake. The pressure should be moderate to ensure that the powder is firm without gaps, but also to avoid over-compaction resulting in poor extraction. After pressing the powder, gently snap the handle into the coffee maker and tighten it.
6.Extraction
Start the coffee machine for extraction. The extraction time is generally controlled between 20-30 seconds, the specific time can be adjusted according to personal taste and coffee machine model. During the extraction process, the high temperature and high pressure water will quickly pass through the layer of coffee powder cake and extract the rich coffee liquid.
7.Enjoy your coffee
Once the extraction is complete, pour the coffee liquid into a coffee cup and enjoy. At this point, there will be a layer of golden-colored coffee oil (Crema) floating on the surface of the coffee liquid, which is one of the important signs of espresso.
8.Cleaning and Maintenance
After making coffee, clean the residue inside the coffee maker and turn off the power. Regular maintenance and care of your coffee maker will prolong its life and keep it in good working condition.
